This refers to the events that Moses described in [5:23-31](../05/23.md). All the Israelites gathered at the base of Mount Sinai, and Yahweh spoke to them from a fire at the top of the mountain. The Israelites were scared, so they asked Moses to speak to Yahweh on their behalf. Alternate translation: [on the day you gathered together at Horeb, saying, ‘We are afraid that we will die if we continue to hear the voice of Yahweh our God and see this great fire]
Note 2 topic: writing-quotations
לֵאמֹ֑ר
to=say
Here, the word saying introduces direct speech. Consider natural ways of doing that in your own language.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes
לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹ֣א אֹסֵ֗ף לִשְׁמֹ֨עַ֙ אֶת־קוֹל֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהָ֔י וְאֶת־הָאֵ֨שׁ הַגְּדֹלָ֥ה הַזֹּ֛את לֹֽא־אֶרְאֶ֥ה ע֖וֹד וְלֹ֥א אָמֽוּת
to=say not again to,hear DOM sound/voice YHWH God_of,my and=DOM the,fire the=big/large/great(fs) the,this not see again/more and=not die
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation, as modeled by the UST.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
