OET (OET-LV) And_do the_right and_the_good in/on_both_eyes_of YHWH so_that it_may_go_well to/for_you(fs) and_go_in and_possess DOM the_earth/land the_good which he_swore YHWH to_fathers_of_your.
וְעָשִׂ֛יתָ הַיָּשָׁ֥ר וְהַטּ֖וֹב בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה
and,do the,right and,the,good in/on=both_eyes_of YHWH
Alternate translation: [And you shall do what Yahweh thinks is right and good]
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / youcrowd
וְעָשִׂ֛יתָ & לָ֔ךְ וּבָ֗אתָ וְיָֽרַשְׁתָּ֙ & לַאֲבֹתֶֽיךָ
and,do & to/for=you(fs) and,go_in and,possess & to,fathers_of,your
Even though Moses is speaking to all the Israelites, you and your are singular from this verse to verse 21. If the singular forms of these pronouns would not be natural in your language, you could use the plural forms in your translation.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns
הַיָּשָׁ֥ר וְהַטּ֖וֹב
the,right and,the,good
If your language does not use an abstract noun for the ideas of right and good, you could express the same idea using adjectives or in another way. Alternate translation: [what is righteous and pleasing]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / doublet
הַיָּשָׁ֥ר וְהַטּ֖וֹב
the,right and,the,good
The terms right and good mean similar things. The author is using the two terms together for emphasis. If it would be clearer for your readers, you could express the emphasis with a single phrase. Alternate translation: [what is righteous] or [what is pleasing]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה
in/on=both_eyes_of YHWH
See how you translated the phrase in the eyes of in [4:06](../04/06.md). Alternate translation: [according to the judgment of Yahweh]
Note 5 topic: grammar-connect-logic-goal
לְמַ֨עַן֙
so_that
Here, so that marks what comes after the goal or purpose of what came before. Use a connector in your language that makes it clear that this is the purpose.
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁבַּ֥ע יְהוָ֖ה לַאֲבֹתֶֽיךָ
which/who swore YHWH to,fathers_of,your
Moses is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. The fact that Yahweh will give the land to the living Israelites is implied by what Moses said earlier in this speech. You could supply these words from earlier in the sentence if it would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [that Yahweh swore to your fathers that he would enable you to possess] or [that Yahweh swore that he would give to your fathers]
6:1-25 Moses here explains how the stipulations in the following sections should be applied and handed on to future generations.
OET (OET-LV) And_do the_right and_the_good in/on_both_eyes_of YHWH so_that it_may_go_well to/for_you(fs) and_go_in and_possess DOM the_earth/land the_good which he_swore YHWH to_fathers_of_your.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
