OET (OET-LV) And_say to_son_of_your slaves we_were of_Parˊoh in/on/at/with_Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and_brought_out_us YHWH from_Miʦrayim in/on/at/with_hand strong.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes
וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ לְבִנְךָ֔ עֲבָדִ֛ים הָיִ֥ינוּ לְפַרְעֹ֖ה בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַיּוֹצִיאֵ֧נוּ יְהוָ֛ה מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם בְּיָ֥ד חֲזָקָֽה
and,say to,son_of,your slaves were of,Pharaoh in/on/at/with,Egypt and,brought_~_out,us YHWH from=Miʦrayim/(Egypt) in/on/at/with,hand mighty
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [And you shall say to your son that you were slaves of Pharoah in Egypt, and that Yahweh brought you out from Egypt with a mighty hand]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / gendernotations
לְבִנְךָ֔
to,son_of,your
Although the term son is masculine, Moses is using the word in a generic sense that includes both sons and daughters. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could use language in your translation that is clearly inclusive of both men and women. Alternate translation: [to your child]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / go
וַיּוֹצִיאֵ֧נוּ יְהוָ֛ה
and,brought_~_out,us YHWH
In a context such as this, your language might say “took” instead of brought. Alternate translation: [And Yahweh took us out]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
בְּיָ֥ד חֲזָקָֽה
in/on/at/with,hand mighty
Here the word hand represents God’s power. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your language or state the meaning plainly. See how you translated this in [4:34](../04/34.md).
6:21 The phrase his strong hand is an anthropomorphism (see study note on 8:2).
OET (OET-LV) And_say to_son_of_your slaves we_were of_Parˊoh in/on/at/with_Miʦrayim/(Egypt) and_brought_out_us YHWH from_Miʦrayim in/on/at/with_hand strong.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
