Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וַיֵּצֵא֙ גַּ֣עַל בֶּן־עֶ֔בֶד וַיַּעֲמֹ֕ד פֶּ֖תַח שַׁ֣עַר הָעִ֑יר
and=he/it_went_out Gaˊal son_of ˊEⱱed and,stood entrance gate the=city
See the discussion of this verse in the General Notes to this chapter. Since the author does not say explicitly why Gaal stood in the entrance of the gate of the city, it would probably be best to say no more about this in your translation than the original text does.
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וַיָּ֧קָם & מִן־הַמַּאְרָֽב
and=he/it_rose_up & from/more_than the,ambush
In this context, the word arose does refer literally to standing up from a sitting or lying position. Alternate translation: “and … stood up from where they had been hiding”
9:1-57 The reign of Abimelech was the turning point between the comparative rest of the early period of judges (3:7–8:35) and the decline of the later years (10:1–16:31).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
