See how you translated a similar phrase in the previous verse. Alternate translation: [they had forbidden him from entering the synagogue] or [they had forbidden him from belonging to the synagogue community]

Jesus refers to himself as the “Son of Man”. However, the formerly blind man did not realize that Jesus was speaking of himself, and Jesus does not explain the metaphor to him until verse [37](../09/37.md). Therefore, you do not need to explain that Jesus is speaking about himself here.

9:35 Son of Man: See 1:51; 3:13, 14; 5:27; 6:27, 53, 62; 8:28. The Greek translates a Hebrew and Aramaic phrase meaning “human being.” People were not completely sure what Jesus meant by it (see 12:34). However, it signifies Jesus’ identity both as human and as the Messiah (cp. Dan 7:13-14).
