I_am_telling to_you, Petros, the_rooster ˓will˒_ by_no_means _be_crowing today, until three-times you_will_be_renouncing to_have_known me.
OET (OET-RV) “I can tell you, Peter,” replied Yeshua, “that the rooster certainly won’t crow today until you’ve gone and three times denied even knowing me.”
In this section Jesus warned Peter that Satan wanted to test the disciples severely. Peter told Jesus that he would always be faithful to him, but Jesus said to him, “This same night you (Peter) will say three times that you do not know me.”
In the second part of the section, Jesus reminded his apostles of the time that he sent them out to preach and heal (chapters 9–10). At that time, they did not need to take anything with them. People welcomed them and took care of them as they preached about Jesus. But now, people would say that Jesus was an evil doer, just as the prophets had written in the Scriptures. So Jesus warned his apostles to prepare for this time of difficulty and danger.

Jesus solemnly answered, “Peter, you(sing) can be sure of this.
I tell you, Peter: Jesus used the phrase I tell you here as a solemn introduction to what he was about to say to Peter. Jesus often used the words I tell you to introduce a statement that he wanted to emphasize. Here it indicates that the statement was important and that Peter should listen carefully to it. Some other ways to show this emphasis are:

the rooster will not crow today until
Today before a rooster crows,
Even this very night, before a cock crows/cries at dawn,
the rooster will not crow today until: The clause the rooster will not crow today until refers to a time later that same night. The Jewish day begins at sundown. Jesus said this sometime during the evening. Roosters crow early in the morning before sunrise. So Jesus indicated that Peter would deny him that night before sunrise. Refer to this time in a natural way in your language. Other ways to translate the clause are:
before a rooster crows tomorrow morning (CEV)
the rooster will not crow today until (NET)
tonight before the rooster crows at dawn
the rooster: The phrase the rooster refers to a male cock. The phrase does not indicate that Jesus was thinking of any particular rooster. Some ways to translate this are:
a rooster crows (CEV)
a cock crows
crow: The word crow refers to the loud sound a rooster makes before dawn each day. Languages have different ways to describe this sound. For example:
sings
cries
Use the natural way in your language to describe this sound that a rooster makes.
you have denied three times that you know Me.”
three times you(sing) will say that you do not know me.”
you(sing) will tell people three times, ‘I do not know that man/Jesus.’”
you have denied three times that you know Me: This clause indicates that Peter would say three times that he did not know Jesus. In some languages it may be more natural to translate this clause as direct speech. For example:
three times you will say, “I do not know him/Jesus”
In some languages it may be more natural to reverse the order of 22:34b and 22:34c. For example:

Jesus is referring to a certain time of day. Roosters crow just before the sun appears in the morning. In other words, Jesus is referring to dawn. Alternate translation: [before another morning begins]

A rooster is a bird that calls out loudly around the time the sun comes up. If your readers would not be familiar with this bird, you could use the name of a bird in your area that calls out or sings just before dawn, or you could use a general expression. Alternate translation: [before the birds begin to sing in the morning]

Jesus is not speaking of one particular rooster but of roosters in general. Alternate translation: [the roosters] or [the birds]

The Jewish day began at sunset. Jesus was speaking after the sun had set. The rooster would crow just before morning. That morning was considered part of the same day. Alternate translation: [in the morning]
