OET (OET-LV)And having_come_in immediately with earnestness to the king, she_requested saying:
I_am_wanting that immediately you_may_give the head of_Yōannaʸs the immerser to_me on a_platter.

OET (OET-RV)So going back into the party, she said seriously to the king, “I would like the head of Yohan-the-immerser on a plate!”

uW Translation Notes:

μετὰ σπουδῆς

with earnestness

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of haste, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [quickly] or [hurriedly]

Note 1 topic: writing-quotations

λέγουσα

saying

Consider natural ways of introducing direct quotations in your language. Alternate translation: [and she said]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

θέλω ἵνα ἐξαυτῆς δῷς μοι ἐπὶ πίνακι τὴν κεφαλὴν Ἰωάννου τοῦ Βαπτιστοῦ

˱I˲_/am/_wanting that immediately ˱you˲_/may/_give ˱to˲_me on /a/_platter the head ˱of˲_John the Baptist

Here the woman implies that she wants Herod to have John killed by having his head cut off and brought to her. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make that idea more explicit. Alternate translation: [I desire that you would have one of your soldiers at once behead John the Baptist and then give me his head here on a platter]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular

δῷς

˱you˲_/may/_give

Because the girl is speaking to Herod, the word you is singular.

Note 4 topic: translate-unknown

πίνακι

/a/_platter

A platter is a large, flat serving dish. If your readers would not be familiar with this type of dish, you could use the name of something similar in your area or you could use a more general term. Alternate translation: [a tray] or [a large serving plate]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

6:14-29 The account of John the Baptist’s death, sandwiched between the sending out and the return of the disciples, continues the theme of Jesus’ authority and power (see 6:7, 14). John’s fate and the warning given to the disciples in their missionary charge (6:11) also foreshadowed Jesus’ death. The one greater even than John (1:8) would soon be handed over to religious and political leaders and put to death (8:31; 9:31; 10:33).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
