OET (OET-LV) And_they_recounted to_him/it and_they_said we_went into the_earth/land which you_sent_us and_also is_flowing_of milk and_honey it and_this fruit_of_is_its.
OET (OET-RV) and told them, “We went to the land where you sent us, and it is indeed flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns
לוֹ֙
to=him/it
The pronoun him refers to Moses. The men who explored Canaan spoke this report to Moses, but everyone else who was present also heard it. It may be helpful to clarify this for your readers. Alternate translation: [to Moses publicly]
Note 2 topic: writing-quotations
וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ
and=they_said
The term and they said introduces a direct quotation. In your translation, use a natural way of introducing direct quotations in your language. It may not be necessary to represent this term explicitly.
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive
אֲשֶׁ֣ר שְׁלַחְתָּ֑נוּ
which/who you,sent_us
The phrase where you sent us shows that “us” refers to the 12 men who explored Canaan, but not to Moses, whom they are addressing, so use the exclusive form of that word in your translation if your language marks that distinction.
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
זָבַ֨ת חָלָ֥ב וּדְבַ֛שׁ הִ֖וא
flowing_of milk and,honey who/which
Here, the author is speaking as if the land were actually flowing with milk and honey. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [it is rich and fertile] or [it is very productive]
Note 5 topic: grammar-collectivenouns
וְזֶה־פִּרְיָֽהּ
and=this fruit_of,[is]_its
In this verse, the word fruit is singular in form, but it refers to all the fruit (grapes, pomegranates, and figs) as a group. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use the plural form of “fruit.” See how you translated this phrase in [13:20](../13/20.md). Alternate translation: [and these are its fruits]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
