Here is a summary of the advice in this section: If you accept what I teach and seek to become wise (2:1–4), you will indeed become wise, and because of your wisdom, you will know how to revere the LORD and how to do what is right. You will also be protected (2:5–11). Wisdom will protect you from wicked men (2:12–15) and from adulterous women (2:16–19). This paragraph describes the first of the evil influences from which wisdom will protect a person. Some English versions, such as the NIV, start a new paragraph here. Others, such as the BSB, NRSV, and NJB, continue the same paragraph. You may use whatever paragraph structure is more natural in your language. rejoice in the twistedness of evil: In Hebrew, the word the BSB translates here as twistedness usually refers to words. Here it is parallel to doing wrong, so it probably refers to actions. The Hebrew word comes from a verb root that means “to turn upside down.” It implies that evil is the opposite of the LORD’s moral standard. This may be the reason why the NLT96 translates this line as:
they enjoy evil as it turns things upside down (NLT96)
Many English versions, however, translate twistedness with a word that indicates deception. Scholars disagree about the meaning of the phrase twistedness of evil.The NET footnote understands the phrase to mean “perverse evil,” whereas Waltke has “evil perversions” (page 230) and Murphy has “evil perversity” (page 13). The difference is not important. Many English versions link the two words with “and.” For example:
they…are happy to do what is crooked and evil (NCV)
they…exult in wicked and subversive acts (REB)
In some languages, it may be more natural to combine and/or reorder the parallel parts. For example:

Here Solomon is using the possessive form to describe perverse things that are characterized by evil. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state this explicitly. Alternate translation: “evil perverse things”
2:1-22 The father urges his son to seek wisdom. It will protect him from evil men and from the dangers of promiscuous women. The son must seek wisdom, while understanding that it is a gift from God.
