TSNTyndale Study Notes:

16:1-43 The transfer of the Ark (16:1-3) and the conclusion of the event (16:43) are reported exactly as in Samuel (see 2 Sam 6:17-20). However, between these bookends, the Chronicler elaborates on the celebrations that accompanied the event and on the permanent arrangements for worship (1 Chr 16:4-42). David’s psalm of celebration is the central focus of the account.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

(Occurrence 0) that which fills it shout with joy

(Some words not found in UHB: roar the=sea and,all_that_fills,it exult the=field and=all which/who in/on/over=him/it )

The implied information is that this refers to all the creatures living in the sea. They are spoken of as if they should shout with joy like people might do. Alternate translation: “the sea creatures shout joyfully” (See also: figs-personification)

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / personification

(Occurrence 0) Let the fields be joyful, and all that is in them

(Some words not found in UHB: roar the=sea and,all_that_fills,it exult the=field and=all which/who in/on/over=him/it )

“Let the fields and all that is in them be joyful.” The author speaks as if the fields and the animals that live in them have emotions like people. Alternate translation: “Let it be as if the fields themselves and all the animals that live in them are rejoicing”
