BrLXX (KI2 12:16) Καὶ οὐκ ἐξελογίζοντο τοὺς ἄνδρας οἷς ἐδίδουν τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ χεῖρας αὐτῶν δοῦναι τοῖς ποιοῦσι τὰ ἔργα, ὅτι ἐν πίστει αὐτῶν ποιοῦσιν.

UST The men who supervised the work acted honestly. So when the king’s secretary and the high priest gave them money to pay the workers, they never required them to report how they had spent that money.

If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [And because the men into whose hand they gave the silver to give to the doers of the work were acting in faithfulness, they did not reckon with them]

In this verse, the word hand is singular in form, but it refers to the hands of all of the men who had been appointed to supervise the work. If you decide to keep the image of a hand that represents custody, if it would be helpful in your language, you could use the plural form of the word. Alternate translation: [into whose hands]
