TSNTyndale Study Notes:

26:1 Men from Ziph had previously volunteered to capture David and hand him over to Saul (23:19-20).
• Hakilah . . . Jeshimon is the same geographical location they had mentioned to Saul before (23:19). David had not moved far, probably because the hilly terrain was dotted with numerous caves, providing many good hiding places.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-newevent

וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ הַזִּפִים֙ אֶל־שָׁא֔וּל הַגִּבְעָ֖תָה

and=they_came the,Ziphites to/towards Shāʼūl/(Saul) the,Gibeah,at

The author is introducing a new development in the story. Use a word, phrase, or other method here that is natural in your language for introducing a new development.

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / rquestion

הֲל֨וֹא דָוִ֤ד מִסְתַּתֵּר֙ בְּגִבְעַ֣ת הַחֲכִילָ֔ה עַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הַיְשִׁימֹֽן

am=not Dāvid hiding in/on/at/with,hill_of the,Hachilah on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face/surface_of the,jeshimon

The Ziphites are using the question form for emphasis. If a speaker of your language would not use the question form for that purpose, you could translate this as a statement or as an exclamation. Alternate translation: [David is hiding himself on the hill of Hakilah, on the face of Jeshimon!]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

עַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הַיְשִׁימֹֽן

on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face/surface_of the,jeshimon

The Ziphites are using the term on the face of by association to mean in front of or opposite. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [opposite Jeshimon]
