OET (OET-LV)strengthening the souls of_the apprentices/followers, exhorting them to_be_remaining_in in_the faith, and that it_is_fitting us to_come_in into the kingdom of_ the _god through many tribulations.

OET (OET-RV) There they strengthened the faith of the believers—encouraging them to continue believing and to expect that it’s normal to endure a lot of suffering on the path to God’s kingdom.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / synecdoche

ἐπιστηρίζοντες τὰς ψυχὰς τῶν μαθητῶν

strengthening the souls ˱of˲_the disciples

Luke is using one part of the disciples, their souls, to represent their entire beings as believers in Jesus. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression from your culture or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “They were strengthening the disciples”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

παρακαλοῦντες ἐμμένειν τῇ πίστει

exhorting_‹them› /to_be/_remaining_in ˱in˲_the faith

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of faith, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: “encouraging them to keep believing in Jesus”

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / quotations

καὶ ὅτι διὰ πολλῶν θλίψεων, δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ

and that through many tribulations ˱it˲_/is/_fitting us /to/_come_in into the Kingdom ¬the ˱of˲_God

You may want to have an indirect quotation here, if that would be more natural in your language. Alternate translation: “and saying that it was necessary for all of them to enter into the kingdom of God through many afflictions”

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / abstractnouns

δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν Βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ

˱it˲_/is/_fitting us /to/_come_in into the Kingdom ¬the ˱of˲_God

See the discussion of the concept of the kingdom of God in Part 2 of the General Introduction to Acts. If it would be clearer in your language, you could express the idea behind the abstract noun kingdom with a noun such as “king.” Alternate translation: “It is necessary for us to endure many afflictions in order to live in allegiance to God as our true king”

Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / exclusive

δεῖ ἡμᾶς εἰσελθεῖν

˱it˲_/is/_fitting us /to/_come_in

By us, Paul and Barnabas mean both themselves and the believers to whom they were speaking, so use the exclusive form of that word in your translation if your language marks that distinction.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

14:22-23 The apostles were diligent in following up with those who had made a Christian profession of faith. These new disciples needed to be nurtured, supported, and encouraged (15:32, 41; 16:40; 18:23; see 1 Thes 3:2; 4:18; 5:14).
• Paul and Barnabas . . . appointed elders: See “Church Leaders” Theme Note.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
