(Occurrence 0) Ahab killed many sheep and oxen for him and the people
(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_descended at,end_of years to/towards ʼAḩʼāⱱ in,Samaria and,slaughtered to=him/it ʼAḩʼāⱱ flock_of_sheep/goats and,cattle to=increase_in_number and,for_the,people which/who with=him/it and,induced,him to,go_up to/towards Ramoth- -gilead )
This means that he had these animals slaughtered to prepare a feast for the people. Also, Ahab himself would not have prepared the animals, but rather would have commanded his workers to do it. Alternate translation: “Ahab commanded his workers to slaughter many sheep and oxen for a feast for Jehoshaphat and the people” (See also: figs-metonymy)
18:1-2 Jehoshaphat’s alliance with Ahab led him to compromise his faithfulness to the Lord (see 19:2-3; cp. 2 Cor 6:14-18). The marriage of his son Jehoram (2 Chr 21:1) to Ahab’s daughter Athaliah (22:2) brought Israel’s apostasy into Judah (see 21:5-6, 12-13; 22:1-4).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
