Here the author is speaking as if Yahweh had literally torn the Israelites away from their land, as someone might tear a piece of cloth or uproot a plant. The author means that Yahweh forcibly removed them from their land. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a comparable expression or state the meaning plainly.
