OET (OET-LV) Heart_my to_commanders of_Yisrāʼēl/(Israel) the_volunteers in/on/at/with_people bless YHWH.
OET (OET-RV) I’m thankful to Israel’s commanders
⇔ who volunteered to help the people.
⇔ Yahweh be blessed.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
לִבִּי֙ לְחוֹקְקֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל
heart,my to,commanders Yisrael
In this culture, people regarded the heart as the location of human feelings. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “I am so happy about what the commanders of Israel did”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / yousingular
בָּרֲכ֖וּ
bless
As in 5:2, the imperative verb bless is plural here, so use the plural form in your translation if your language marks that distinction.
5:1-31 This song, a victory hymn usually credited to Deborah, presents a second, more poetic account of the entire battle with various details that supplement the prose account. It is one of the most ancient Hebrew poems. It blesses the Lord, those tribes who responded to the muster, and Jael. It curses those who remained at home, Sisera, and his mother’s entourage. It contrasts conditions before Barak’s victory, when the Lord’s curse was on the land, with the life of blessing in the wake of the warriors’ righteous acts. It ends with a prayer that the Lord’s enemies will perish like Sisera (5:31).
