OET (OET-LV)And the ones feeding them having_seen, the thing having_become, they_fled and they_reported to the city and to the country.

OET (OET-RV)When the workers feeding the pigs saw this happen, they took off and told everyone in the nearby town and round about.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / merism

εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς

to to (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἰδόντες Δέ οἱ βόσκοντες τό γεγονός ἔφυγον καί ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τήν πόλιν καί εἰς τούς ἀγρούς)

Here Luke uses a figure of speech to refer to that whole region by naming the two constituent parts of it. Alternate translation: [throughout the whole area]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἀγρούς

to to (Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἰδόντες Δέ οἱ βόσκοντες τό γεγονός ἔφυγον καί ἀπήγγειλαν εἰς τήν πόλιν καί εἰς τούς ἀγρούς)

You could also translate this more literally. The implication is that this means the city of Gerasa, since Luke says in [8:29](../08/29.md) that Jesus and his disciples came to the region where this city was located. Alternate translation: [in the city of Gerasa and in the surrounding countryside]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

8:26-39 This exorcism story demonstrated Jesus’ authority over spiritual forces. It also contrasted the faith and devotion of the freed man with the fear and rejection of the townspeople.

OET (OET-LV)And the ones feeding them having_seen, the thing having_become, they_fled and they_reported to the city and to the country.

OET (OET-RV)When the workers feeding the pigs saw this happen, they took off and told everyone in the nearby town and round about.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.

Acknowledgements: The SR Greek text, lemmas, morphology, and VLT gloss are all thanks to the CNTR.
