The author is repeating forms of the verb gathered in order to intensify his expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Hushai is referring to all of Israel by naming cities at its northern and southern extremes, Dan and Beersheba. The point of this comparison is that just as the sand that is by the sea is uncountable, so would be the soldiers whom Absalom would gather. By suggesting that Absalom will have too many troops to count, Hushai is making an overstatement for emphasis in order to convince Absalom to follow his advice.
