Hushai is stating the pronoun you separately, even though the verb translated as you know already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that Absalom has knowledge that should make him realize that Ahithophel has not given good advice. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [You know quite well that your father and his men are warriors]

Hushai is speaking as if David and his men actually had souls that were bitter. He means that they were easily provoked to violence. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. If you have already translated the book of Judges, see how you translated the similar expression in [Judges 18:25](../../jdg/18/25.md). Alternate translation: [and prone to violence]

The expression bereaved is a passive verbal form. If your language would not use that form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [like a she-bear whose cubs someone has taken from her]

Hushai is using this comparison to make the point that just as a bear bereaved in the field is enraged and aggressive, so David and his men will be as well. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [as vicious as a bear in the wild whose cubs have been taken] or [as fierce as a bear in the wild that has lost her young]

אִ֣ישׁ מִלְחָמָ֔ה

(a)_man war

Hushai is using this possessive form to describe a man who is characterized by having much experience in war. If a speaker of your language would not use the possessive form in that way, you could express this idea in another way. Alternate translation: [is an experienced warrior]
