BLB But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
AICNT Pericope Adulterae Interpolation[fn]
¶ [[But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
Verses 7:53-8:11, known as the Pericope Adulterae, is absent from the earliest manuscripts including 𝔓66, P𝔓75, N(01), A(02), B(03), C(04) W(032) Latin(a) and Syriac(sy). Absent from THGNT ‖ Double bracketed in NA28 and SBLGNT. ‖ Included in D(05) Latin(d e ff2) BYZ and TR.UBS Handbooks for New Testament (20 vol.) states regarding the pericope, “is not found in the earlier and better Greek manuscripts, it differs in style and vocabulary from the rest of John's Gospel, and it interrupts the sequence of 7.52 and 8.12 and following. But it was evidently a widely circulated account in certain parts of the early church and finally found its place in various ancient manuscripts. In terms of style and vocabulary, it is closer to the Lukan writings than it is to John, and in some ancient manuscripts it is even found after Luke 21.38.” The UBS committee regards this passage as original history, though not originally located within John's gospel.
OEB except Jesus, who went to the Mount of Olives[fn].
8:1 This passage is inserted in some manuscripts from an ancient source, and found either after John 7:53 or after Luke 21:38 or elsewhere.

ClVg Jesus autem perrexit in montem Oliveti:[fn]
(Yesus however perrexit in montem Oliveti: )
8.1 Jesus autem. Quia mos ei erat die docere in templo, vespere reverti in Bethaniam, quæ est in monte Oliveti.
8.1 Yesus however. Because mos to_him was day docere in temple, vespere reverti in Bethaniam, which it_is in mountain Oliveti. Note 1 topic: translate-textvariants
The best early texts do not have 7:53–8:11. The ULT has set them apart in square brackets ([ ]) to show that John probably did not include them in his original text. See the discussion of this textual issue in the General Notes to this chapter.
