Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for Bible-translators and others doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still early looks into the drafted texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

8:10 The prophet is not telling Hazael to lie. The question from the king was in regard to his illness. The king's death was not caused by his illness, but by Hazael who murdered him.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes

אֱמָר־ל֖וֹ חָיֹ֣ה תִחְיֶ֑ה

say (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said to=him/it ʼElīshāˊ go say לא to_recover you_will_recover and,he,has_shown_me YHWH that/for/because/then/when to_die he_will_die )

If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: [tell him that reviving, he will revive]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication

חָיֹ֣ה תִחְיֶ֑ה & מ֥וֹת יָמֽוּת

to_recover you_will_recover & to_die he_will_die

Elisha is repeating forms of the verbs revive and die in order to intensify his expression of the ideas that they convey. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [He will certainly recover … he will certainly die]
