TSNTyndale Study Notes:

10:11-12 Whoever divorces . . . and marries someone else commits adultery: The parallel in Luke 16:18 agrees with Mark and mentions no exceptions to this prohibition of divorce, while Matthew’s parallel account allows an exception in cases of infidelity (Matt 19:9; see also Matt 5:32). Paul also allows an exception if an unbelieving partner deserts the marriage (1 Cor 7:15). Mark’s account focuses on the core principles—God hates divorce (Mal 2:16), marriage is meant to be for life, and divorce betrays the divine purpose of marriage.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-pronouns

αὐτὴ

she

The pronoun she refers to any married woman. If this is not clear for your readers, you could refer to married women more directly. Alternate translation: [a wife]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / nominaladj

ἄλλον

another

Jesus is using the adjective another as a noun to mean another man. Your language may use adjectives in the same way. If not, you could translate this word with an equivalent phrase. Alternate translation: [another person]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

μοιχᾶται

˱she˲_/is/_causing_adultery

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea of adultery, you could express the same idea in another way. Alternate translation: [she becomes an adulteress] or [she does what is adulterous]
