OET (OET-LV) And I_ also _heard from_a_voice saying to_me:
Petros having_risen_up, sacrifice and eat.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / personification
φωνῆς λεγούσης μοι
˱from˲_/a/_voice saying ˱to˲_me
Peter speaks of this voice as if it were a living thing that could speak on its own. Alternate translation: “someone saying to me”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
ἀναστάς
/having/_risen_up
Here the term arising means that the voice wanted Peter to take action, not that the voice wanted him to stand up from a seated position. Alternate translation, as in UST: “Go ahead”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes
λεγούσης μοι, ἀναστάς, Πέτρε, θῦσον καὶ φάγε
saying ˱to˲_me /having/_risen_up Peter sacrifice and eat
If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. Alternate translation: “telling me to arise and kill and eat”
11:1-18 Jews traditionally kept themselves separate and did not eat or associate socially with Gentiles (10:28; 22:21-22; see John 4:9, 27; 18:28; Gal 2:12-14). Therefore, when the Jewish believers in Jerusalem learned that Gentiles had received the word of God, they criticized Peter’s unconventional actions and wanted an explanation, which Peter provided.
OET (OET-LV) And I_ also _heard from_a_voice saying to_me:
Petros having_risen_up, sacrifice and eat.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
