OET (OET-LV) And_I I_remained on_mountain like_days (the)_former forty day[s] and_forty night[s] and_ YHWH _he/it_listened to_me also at_time the_that not YHWH he_was_willing to_destroy_you.
OET (OET-RV) I myself stayed up on the mountain for forty days and nights just like the first time. Yahweh listened to me that time as well, and said that he wouldn’t destroy you.
Note 1 topic: writing-quotations
and,I (Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
This verse continues Moses’ speech to the Israelites from [verse 5](../10/05.md). Consider natural ways of continuing direct quotations in your language, as modeled by the UST.
Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns
וְאָנֹכִ֞י עָמַ֣דְתִּי
and,I (Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
Moses is stating the pronoun I separately, even though the verb translated as I stood already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that he is the one who stood on the mountain. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing the meaning here. Alternate translation: [And indeed I stood] or [And I myself stood]
וְאָנֹכִ֞י עָמַ֣דְתִּי
and,I (Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
Alternate translation: [And I remained]
Note 3 topic: translate-ordinal
כַּיָּמִים֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
If your language would not represent a number in a form such as the first, you could represent this in a form that your language would use. Alternate translation: [as the previous time]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
כַּיָּמִים֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
Here the word days refers to a specific period of time. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [as the first period of time]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit
וַיִּשְׁמַ֨ע יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י גַּ֚ם בַּפַּ֣עַם הַהִ֔וא
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
The implication is that Yahweh listened to Moses’ request to not destroy the Israelites, just like Yahweh he did in [9:19](../09/19.md). See how you translated the similar phrase, “Yahweh listened to me also that time,” in that verse. Alternate translation: [And I interceded on your behalf, and Yahweh listened to me at that time also]
Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / youcrowd
הַשְׁחִיתֶֽךָ
(Some words not found in UHB: and,I stayed on,mountain like,days (the),former forty day and,forty night and=he/it_listened YHWH to=me also/yet at,time the=that not willing YHWH to,destroy_you )
Even though Moses is speaking to all the Israelites, you is singular here. If the singular form of these pronoun would not be natural in your language, you could use the plural form in your translation.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
Acknowledgements: The Hebrew text, lemmas, and morphology are all thanks to the OSHB and some of the glosses are from Macula Hebrew.
