OET (OET-LV) and_ YHWH _he/it_said to Mosheh HERE_you are_about_to_lie_down with ancestors_of_your and_it_will_arise the_people the_this and_it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after the_gods_of (the)_foreignness_of the_earth/land where it is_about_to_go to_(to) in_midst_of_its and_it_will_abandon_me and_it_will_break DOM covenant_of_my which I_made with_him/it.
OET (OET-RV) Then Yahweh said to Mosheh, “Listen, you’ll soon go to join your ancestors, and these people will turn and prostitute themselves to the strange gods of the land that they’ll be going to. This nation will abandon me and break the agreement that I’ve made with it.

Here Yahweh is using the term Behold to focus Moses’ attention on what he is about to say. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation. Alternate translation: [Listen carefully] or [Pay attention]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism
שֹׁכֵ֖ב עִם־אֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ
(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
Yahweh is referring to death in a polite way by using the phrase you will sleep with your fathers. Depending on what is helpful in your language, you could use a polite way of referring to this in your language, or you could state this plainly. Alternate translation: [you will die and be buried with your ancestors]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
שֹׁכֵ֖ב עִם־אֲבֹתֶ֑יךָ
(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
Here Yahweh is speaking of Moses’ ancestors as if they were his fathers. Your language may have comparable expressions that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [you will die and join your ancestors]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְקָם֩ הָעָ֨ם הַזֶּ֜ה וְזָנָ֣ה
and,it_will_arise the,people (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
Here Yahweh is using rise up as a common expression of the culture to mean “begin to act” or “proceed to act.” He does not mean that the people will get out of bed or stand up from a seated position. If this expression does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and this people will then proceed to whore] or [and this people will begin to whore]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְזָנָ֣ה ׀ אַחֲרֵ֣י ׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י נֵֽכַר
and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of
Here Yahweh is speaking as if the Israelites worshiping foreign gods were going to whore after the strange gods. He means that they will be unfaithful to him by worshiping other gods, just as a wife would be unfaithful to her husband by being with other men. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and be unfaithful to me by worshiping the foreign gods] or [and act like an unfaithful wife by chasing after the foreign gods]
Note 6 topic: writing-pronouns
ה֤וּא & וַעֲזָבַ֕נִי & אִתּֽוֹ
he/it & and,it,will_forsake_me & with=him/it
From here through verse 21, the pronouns he and him refer to this people which in the original is a singular noun. Sometimes the plural pronouns “they” or “them” also occur. See the discussion of this issue in the introduction to this chapter for more information. If it would be helpful, you may want to use plural pronouns throughout as is modeled in the UST.
Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / explicitinfo
הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר ה֤וּא בָא־שָׁ֨מָּה֙ בְּקִרְבּ֔וֹ
the=earth/land (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
It might seem that the expression of the land in the midst of which he is going to there contains extra information that would not be natural to express in your language. If so, you could shorten it. Alternate translation: [of the land which he is going into]
Note 8 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
וְהֵפֵר֙ אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֔י
and,it_will_break DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
Here, God is speaking of the covenant as if it were an object that could be physically broken. He means that the people will disobey the covenant or fail to fulfill their obligations under it. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [and disobey my covenant] or [and violate my covenant]
Note 9 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
אֶת־בְּרִיתִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר כָּרַ֖תִּי אִתּֽוֹ
DOM (Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_said YHWH to/towards Mosheh here,you lie_down with ancestors_of,your and,it_will_arise the,people the=this and,it_will_act_as_a_prostitute after gods_of foreign_of the=earth/land which/who he/it going to,(to) in,midst_of,its and,it,will_forsake_me and,it_will_break DOM covenant_of,my which/who made with=him/it )
Yahweh is using covenant and cut as part of a common expression of this culture, “to cut a covenant,” which means “to make” or “establish” a covenant. See how you translated the phrase “cut a covenant” in [5:2](../05/02.md). If this phrase does not have that meaning in your language, you could use a comparable expression from your language that does have that meaning, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [my covenant that I have made with them] or [my covenant that I have established with him]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
