OET (OET-LV)And_he/it_was they [were]_sitting to the_table and_he/it_was the_word of_YHWH to the_prophet who brought_back_him.

OET (OET-RV)

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

As they sat at the table

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_was they sitting to/towards the,table and=he/it_was word/matter_of YHWH to/towards the,prophet which/who brought_~_back,him )

The implied information is that they were still eating and drinking at the table. Alternate translation: “As they were eating and drinking at the table”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

the word of Yahweh came to the prophet

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_was they sitting to/towards the,table and=he/it_was word/matter_of YHWH to/towards the,prophet which/who brought_~_back,him )

The idiom “the word of Yahweh came to” is used to introduce a special message from God. See how you translated a similar phrase in 1 Kings 6:11. Alternate translation: “Yahweh gave a message to the prophet” or “Yahweh spoke this message to the prophet”

brought him back

(Some words not found in UHB: and=he/it_was they sitting to/towards the,table and=he/it_was word/matter_of YHWH to/towards the,prophet which/who brought_~_back,him )

Here the word “him” refers to the man of God.

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

13:20-22 Although the old prophet had lied, God communicated through him. The severe pronouncement against the man of God was that because of his disobedience, he would be denied burial in his ancestral tomb. This death sentence was quickly carried out. Disobedience to the clear command of God is a serious offense (Num 14:21-23; Deut 11:26-28).
