(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when so commanded DOM=me by,the_word_of YHWH to=say not she/it_ate food/grain/bread and=not drink water and=not return by,way which/who came )
Here the word For introduces not a reason but an explanation. Alternate translation: [I say this because]

It may be more natural in your language to use the name of Yahweh as the subject of this sentence and to use a pronoun later in the sentence. Alternate translation: [Yahweh has commanded me by his word]

כֵ֣ן ׀ צִוָּ֣ה אֹתִ֗י בִּדְבַ֤ר יְהוָה֙

Here, word represents what Yahweh said by using words. If it would be clearer in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [this is the command that Yahweh has spoken to me]

לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹא־תֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְלֹ֣א תִשְׁתֶּה־מָּ֑יִם וְלֹ֣א תָשׁ֔וּב בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽכְתָּ

If it would be clearer in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation. It may be helpful to begin a new sentence here. Alternate translation: [He told me that I should not eat bread, and I should not drink water, and I should not return by the road by which I went]
Note 5 topic: translate-symaction
לֹא־תֹ֥אכַל לֶ֖חֶם וְלֹ֣א תִשְׁתֶּה־מָּ֑יִם
not she/it_ate food/grain/bread and=not (Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when so commanded DOM=me by,the_word_of YHWH to=say not she/it_ate food/grain/bread and=not drink water and=not return by,way which/who came )
Refusing to accept any hospitality was a symbolic action by which the man of God expressed total separation from the people of the northern kingdom and their religious practices. This clearly signaled Yahweh’s disapproval of the corrupt worship that Jeroboam had introduced. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [To show that I want nothing to do with this corrupt worship, you shall not eat bread, and you shall not drink water]
Note 6 topic: translate-symaction
וְלֹ֣א תָשׁ֔וּב בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָלָֽכְתָּ
and=not and=not return (Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when so commanded DOM=me by,the_word_of YHWH to=say not she/it_ate food/grain/bread and=not drink water and=not return by,way which/who came )
The prophet returning to Judah by a different road seems also to have been a symbolic action. The purpose of this action could have been: (1) so that anyone who had seen him coming who heard about the events at the altar would not recognize him on his return trip and detain him. As a result, he would spend as little time as possible in the northern kingdom, showing further that Yahweh wanted nothing to do with the corrupt worship there. Alternate translation: [and so that no one in that corrupt kingdom detains you on your way home, you shall not return by the road by which you went] or (2) to use the road as a symbol of a course of action in life. Taking a different road would have depicted how the people of the northern kingdom should stop worshiping at the shrines at Bethel and Dan and worship at the temple in Jerusalem once again. Alternate translation: [and to show that these people should worship in the Jerusalem temple and not in these shrines, you shall not return by the road by which you went]

הָלָֽכְתָּ
(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when so commanded DOM=me by,the_word_of YHWH to=say not she/it_ate food/grain/bread and=not drink water and=not return by,way which/who came )
In a context such as this, your language might say “came” instead of went. Alternate translation: [you came]
OET (OET-LV) If/because thus he_commanded DOM_me by_the_message_of YHWH to_say not you_must_eat bread and_not you_must_drink water and_not you_must_return by_way which you_went.
OET (OET-RV) Yahweh already told me not to eat or drink here, and not to return home by the same road I came on.”
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
