OET (OET-LV) Not I_am_able I I_alone to_carry DOM all_of the_people the_this if/because it_is_too_heavy for_me.
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-logic-result
לֹֽא־אוּכַ֤ל אָנֹכִי֙ לְבַדִּ֔י לָשֵׂ֖את אֶת־כָּל־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה כִּ֥י כָבֵ֖ד מִמֶּֽנִּי
not able I I,,alone to,carry DOM all/each/any/every the,people the=this that/for/because/then/when heavy for,me
If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since heavy from me gives the reason for the result that I myself am not able by myself to carry all this people describes. Alternate translation: [Carrying all this people by myself is heavy from me. So, I, I am not able to do it]
Note 2 topic: writing-pronouns
לֹֽא־אוּכַ֤ל אָנֹכִי֙
not able I
Moses is stating the pronoun I separately, even though the verb translated as I am … able already includes this meaning. He is doing that to emphasize that he is definitely not able to do this. If a speaker of your language would use an explicit pronoun for the same purpose, you may want to use that construction in your translation. If not, your language may have other ways of showing that emphasis. Alternate translation: [I am certainly not able]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
לָשֵׂ֖את אֶת־כָּל־הָעָ֣ם הַזֶּ֑ה
to,carry DOM all/each/any/every the,people the=this
Here, Moses is speaking of the responsibility to lead and care for the Israelites as if it were a heavy object that he had to carry. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [to care for all this people]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor
כָבֵ֖ד מִמֶּֽנִּי
heavy for,me
Here, Moses is speaking of taking care of the Israelites as if it were a heavy burden that he must carry. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation, or you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [it is too hard for me to do]
Note 5 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis
כָבֵ֖ד
heavy
Here, the word heavy could describe: (1) carrying the people. Alternate translation: [this burden is heavy] (2) the people. Alternate translation: [they are heavy]
OET (OET-LV) Not I_am_able I I_alone to_carry DOM all_of the_people the_this if/because it_is_too_heavy for_me.
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
