1.13 Et cum introissent. In Græco ita ponitur: Cum introissent civitatem, in cœnaculum ascenderunt, ubi erant manentes Petrus, etc. In Græco sic est ordo nominum: Petrus et Andræas, Jacobus et Joannes, Simon Zelotes et Judas Jacobi. Cœnaculum, etc. BEDA. Hi sunt duodecim filii Jacob; duodecim fontes deserti, quos Isræl reperit in Elim; duodecim panes propositionis; duodecim lapides in veste pontificis; duodecim signa zodiaci; duodecim lapides altaris; duodecim lapides de Jordane elevati; duodecim boves sub æneo mari; duodecim stellæ in corona sponsæ; duodecim fundamenta; duodecim portæ; duodecim menses anni; duodecim horæ diei; duodecim fructus ligni vitæ. Zelotes. BEDA. Zelotes ipse est qui in Evangeliis dicitur Chananæus. Chana zelus interpretatur. Erat enim de vico Galilææ ubi Dominus aquam convertit in vinum. Hic post Jacobum fratrem suum, rexit Ecclesiam Hierosolymorum. Filio pereunte perditionis, imperfectus numerus apostolorum remansit, juxta similitudinem enim lunæ crescit et decrescit Ecclesia: sed vetera transeunt, et nova fiunt.

1.13 And when/with introissent. In Græco so/thus putsur: Since introissent the_city, in/into/on cœnaculum they_went_up, where they_were manentes Petrus, etc. In Græco so it_is ordo nominum: Petrus and Andræas, Yacobus and Yoannes, Simon Zelotes and Yudas Yacobi. Primus (si fas it_is to_be_said) plus the_rests he_loved: another, plurimum Yesus amavit. Catalogus apostolorum therefore/for_that_reason putsur, not extra these aliqui falsi recipiantur: paria and ponuntur loca of_each, distinguentibus gradibus meritorum. They are twelve children Yacob; twelve sources/springs deserti, which Israel findt in/into/on Elim; twelve bread/food propositionis; twelve stones in/into/on veste pontificis; twelve signa zodiaci; twelve stones altar; twelve stones from/about Yordane elevati; twelve cattle under æneo of_the_sea; twelve stars in/into/on corona sponsæ; twelve foundations; twelve gates; twelve a_months of_the_year; twelve horæ of_the_day; twelve fruit wood of_life. Zelotes. BEDA. Zelotes exactly_that/himself it_is who in/into/on of_the_Gospelss it_is_said Chananæus. Chana zealous/jealous interprets. It_was because from/about vico Galilææ where Master water he_turned in/into/on wine. Here/This after Yacobum brother his_own, kingit Assembly/Churchm Hierosolymorum. TSNTyndale Study Notes:

1:13 All eleven of the remaining apostles were present (cp. Matt 10:2-4; Mark 3:16-19; Luke 6:13-16). Judas Iscariot is omitted from this list on account of his betrayal and death (Acts 1:18-19).

UTNuW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

ὅτε εἰσῆλθον

when ˱they˲_came_in

The previous verse explains that the apostles returned to Jerusalem. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could state that again explicitly here. Alternate translation: [when they arrived back in Jerusalem]

Note 2 topic: translate-unknown

εἰς τὸ ὑπερῷον, ἀνέβησαν οὗ ἦσαν καταμένοντες

into the upper_room ˱they˲_went_up where ˱they˲_were staying

In this culture, in some houses, rooms were built on top of other rooms. The expression upper chamber describes such a room, which was reached by stairs. If your culture does not have houses like that, it may be helpful to explain the meaning of the expression in your translation. Alternate translation: [they climbed the stairs to the room where they were staying, which had been built on top of other rooms in the house]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

Ἰάκωβος Ἁλφαίου & Ἰούδας Ἰακώβου

Jacobus Jacobus ˱of˲_Alpheus & Judas ˱of˲_Jacobus

These are two occurrences of an idiom. Alternate translation: [James the son of Alphaeus … Judas the son of James]

Note 4 topic: translate-names

Ἰάκωβος Ἁλφαίου & Ἰούδας & Ἰακώβου

Jacobus Jacobus ˱of˲_Alpheus & Judas & (Some words not found in SR-GNT: καὶ ὅτε εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὸ ὑπερῷον ἀνέβησαν οὗ ἦσαν καταμένοντες ὅ τε Πέτρος καὶ Ἰωάννης καὶ Ἰάκωβος καὶ Ἀνδρέας Φίλιππος καὶ Θωμᾶς Βαρθολομαῖος καὶ Ματθαῖος Ἰάκωβος Ἁλφαίου καὶ Σίμων ὁ Ζηλωτὴς καὶ Ἰούδας Ἰακώβου)

These are the names of four men. As the UST indicates, the man named James who was the father of Judas is not the same man as the James who is mentioned first in this verse, and he is also not the same man as James the son of Alphaeus.

Note 5 topic: translate-names

Σίμων ὁ Ζηλωτὴς

Simon the Zealot

Simon is the name of a man, and Zealot is another name by which he was known. (1) Zealot could be a title that indicates that this man was part of the group of people who wanted to free the Jewish people from Roman rule. Alternate translation: [Simon the Patriot] (2) Zealot could also be a description that indicates that this man was zealous for God to be honored. Alternate translation: [Simon the Passionate One]
