Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed as a tool for doing comparisons of different translations—the older translations are further down the page (so you can read up from the bottom to trace the English translation history). The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible—please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

In this section Jesus healed a woman whom an evil spirit had caused to be unable to stand straight. This story occurred on a Sabbath day sometime during Jesus’ ministry. It did not necessarily occur after the previous section. One of its possible connections with the previous section is that Jesus called people in both sections “hypocrites.”
Another possible heading for this section is:
The Healing of a Woman with a Bent/Crooked Back
This story occurs only in Luke.
Then He placed His hands on her,
Then Jesus laid/placed his hands on the woman.
Jesus touched the woman on her back,
Then: This verse begins with a Greek conjunction that many English versions translate as “and.” The BSB translates as Then to show that it introduces something else that Jesus did. He did this either at the same time as speaking to the woman (13:12b) or immediately afterwards. Some English versions, such as the GNT, do not translate this word.
He placed His hands on her: The clause He placed His hands on her means “Jesus touched the woman.” He touched her in order to heal her. Most likely he touched her back, which was the part of her body that the sickness affected.
In many languages, expressions such as “touch a woman” or “put hands on a woman” have sexual implications. Be very careful to translate this clause in a way that does not imply this wrong meaning.
and immediately she straightened up and began to glorify God.
Right then she stood up straight and began praising God.
Immediately, she was able to stand erect/upright, and she said, “God is so good! God does wonderful things!”
and her back/body became straight immediately, and she began to say how good/wonderful God was.
she straightened up: The clause she straightened up means that the woman straightened her back and stood up straight. For example:
she stood up straight (CEV)
and began to glorify God: The form of the Greek verb that the BSB translates as began to glorify implies that the action continued. The woman began to glorify God and continued glorifying him for some time. For example:
and began praising God (NRSV)
The Greek word that the BSB translates literally as glorify means to speak about how great or wonderful God is. If your language does not have a word like “glorify,” you may be able to express the meaning with a direct or indirect quote. For example:
and she began to say, “God is so good!”
and she began to say how great and wonderful God was
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
ἀνωρθώθη
˱she˲_˓was˒_restored
If it would be helpful in your language, you could express this with an active form. Alternate translation: [she stood up straight]
