Note: This view shows ‘verses’ which are not natural language units and hence sometimes only part of a sentence will be visible. Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

10:32-34 The disciples’ awe and the people’s fear cast a dark shadow over what lay ahead, given the hostility of the Jerusalem leaders toward Jesus (see 3:22-30; 7:1-13). Taking the disciples aside again, Jesus described the coming events in the greatest detail yet (see also 8:31; 9:31). He knew what was about to happen; what awaited him in Jerusalem was neither a tragedy nor fate, but God’s will (see 8:31-33; Acts 4:27-28). As the Son of God, Jesus had unique knowledge of his upcoming unique death as the Savior of the world.
Note 1 topic: translate-symaction
ἐμπτύσουσιν αὐτῷ
˱they˲_/will_be/_spitting ˱on˲_him

μετὰ τρεῖς ἡμέρας
after three days
Here, the phrase after three days refers to the day after tomorrow. People in Jesus’ culture counted the current day as day one, tomorrow as day two, and the day after tomorrow as day three. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a word or phrase that refers to the day after tomorrow. See how you expressed this phrase in 8:31. Alternate translation: [on the day after the next day] or [two days from then]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
ἀναστήσεται
˱he˲_/will_be/_rising_up
Here, the word rise refers to someone who died coming back to life. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use a comparable word or state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [he will be restored to life] or [he will resurrect]
