OET (OET-LV)Therefore these things being unquestionable, it_is fitting you_all to_be_being having_been_calmed, and to_be_doing nothing reckless.

OET (OET-RV)Since all of this is unquestionable, it makes sense for everyone to calm down and not do anything reckless.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

κατεσταλμένους ὑπάρχειν

˓having_been˒_calmed ˓to_be˒_being

If your language does not use this passive form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [to calm down]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / explicit

μηδὲν προπετὲς πράσσειν

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἀναντιρρήτων Οὖν ὄντων τούτων δέον ἐστίν ὑμᾶς κατεσταλμένους ὑπάρχειν καί μηδέν προπετές πράσσειν)

The city clerk means implicitly that it would be rash for the people to do anything to harm Gaius and Aristarchus, as he says in the next verse. You can include this information if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [not to act impulsively and hurt the two men you have brought here]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / doublenegatives

μηδὲν προπετὲς πράσσειν

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: ἀναντιρρήτων Οὖν ὄντων τούτων δέον ἐστίν ὑμᾶς κατεσταλμένους ὑπάρχειν καί μηδέν προπετές πράσσειν)

If it would be clearer in your language, you could use a positive expression to translate this double negative that consists of the negative word nothing and the negative adjective rash. Alternate translation: [to be careful about what you do]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

19:23-41 The patron deity of Ephesus was the Greek goddess Artemis. Her birthplace was believed to be Ephesus, so Ephesus was the official guardian of the temple. Twice annually, elaborate festivals were held in her honor with athletic, musical, and theatrical celebrations that included singing Great is Artemis of the Ephesians! The temple of Artemis at Ephesus was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Conversions to Christianity clearly damaged the worship of Artemis and the associated economic activity, but it became clear that Paul and his associates had committed no crime.

OET (OET-RV)Since all of this is unquestionable, it makes sense for everyone to calm down and not do anything reckless.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
