uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: translate-unknown

סֵ֣פֶר הַבְּרִ֔ית

writing the,covenant

Here, book does not mean something in our modern format. It was likely a piece of papyrus (an early form of paper made from reeds) or animal skin that rolled up. Alternate translation: “the Covenant he had written down”

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

24:7 Treaties were required to be written down and publicly read . . . aloud. Very likely Moses began at this time to write down, under God’s inspiration, all the things that he believed were authoritative documents for his people.

OET (OET-RV) Then he took the scroll with the agreement written on it and read it out loud to the people, and they responded, “We’ll obey everything that Yahweh has instructed.”

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Greek words that they’re translated from.
