The author has been relating the history of the kings of Israel in a steady narrative, but in this verse he pauses to speak directly to his audience about this particular king, Ahab. The author does this to indicate in a strong way his thoughts and feelings about Ahab and how he acted. If a storyteller in your culture would not pause in the middle of a story to address the audience directly and express an opinion about one of the characters, you can translate this in a way that would be natural in your language and culture. Alternate translation: [And as if walking in the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, was not bad enough, he took a wife, Jezebel]

The author is introducing Jezebel as a new participant in the story. Your language may have its own way of introducing new participants that you can use in your translation.

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
