UTNuW Translation Notes:

Connecting Statement:

Connecting Statement:

David continues to speak to Yahweh.

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person

(Occurrence 0) your servant

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when you(ms) God,my revealed DOM ear_of servant,your that,build to=him/it house on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in yes/correct/thus/so he/it_found servant,your to=pray in,presence,you )

David refers to himself as “your servant.” This can be expressed in the first person. Alternate translation: “me”

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

(Occurrence 0) that you will build him a house

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when you(ms) God,my revealed DOM ear_of servant,your that,build to=him/it house on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in yes/correct/thus/so he/it_found servant,your to=pray in,presence,you )

Here the metonym “house” refers to David’s ancestors continuing on as the rulers of Israel. In 1 Chronicles 17:4 Yahweh tells David he would not be the one to build a house for Yahweh. There “house” represented a temple. If your language has a word that can express both ideas, use it here and in 17:4.

(Occurrence 0) I, your servant, have found courage

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when you(ms) God,my revealed DOM ear_of servant,your that,build to=him/it house on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in yes/correct/thus/so he/it_found servant,your to=pray in,presence,you )

If your language does not use an abstract noun for the idea behind the word courage, you can express the same idea with the verb “encouraged.” Alternate translation: “I, your servant, am encouraged”
