Sed et Petro superius claves regni cœlorum esse promissas, Ecclesiamque super eum esse ædificandam rati sunt; vel, istos tres cæteris, vel, omnibus apostolis Petrum esse prælatum: vel quia in tributi solutione Petrum ipsi Domino parificatum viderant, ipsum cæteris præferendum arbitrabantur. Sed sciendum est istam quæstionem et ante tributum et post tributum solutum esse factam.
9.46 Intravit however cogitatio. Because viderant Petrum and Yacobum and Yoannem in montem seorsum ductos, secretumque alithat to_them esse traditum. But and Petro superius claves regni cœlorum esse promissas, Ecclesiamque over him esse ædificandam rati sunt; vel, istos tres cæteris, vel, to_all apostolis Petrum esse prælatum: or because in tributi solutione Petrum ipsi Master parificatum viderant, ipsum cæteris præferendum arbitrabantur. 9:46 Jesus had just predicted his own suffering and death, so the disciples’ arguing about which of them was the greatest showed astonishing pride and insensitivity.

Be sure that it is clear in your translation that the pronoun them does not include Jesus. He was not arguing, along with the disciples, about who was the greatest. Alternate translation: “among the disciples”
τίς ἂν εἴη μείζων αὐτῶν
who ¬wishfully might_be greater ˱of˲_them
Alternate translation: “which one of them was the greatest”
