BrTr (NUM 30:3) Whatsoever man shall vow a vow to the Lord, or swear an oath, or bind himself with an obligation upon his soul, he shall not [fn]break his word; all that shall come out of his mouth he shall do.

ULT A man, when he vows a vow to Yahweh or swears an oath to bind a bond on his life, he shall not profane his word. According to everything going out from his mouth he shall do.

UST Suppose that a man makes a solemn promise to Yahweh or commits to a formal agreement with a pledge. In that case, the man must do everything that he said he would do. He must not fail to do all of it.

WEBBE & WMBB When a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

The words “a man” refer to any man, not one particular man. It refers only to men and does not include women. Alternate translation: [any man]

Here Moses speaks of a person promising to do something as if his promise were a physical object that he ties to himself. Alternate translation: [committing to fulfill a promise] or [promising to do something]
