OET (OET-RV) No one came to rescue them because it was a long way from Tsidon and they did have much involvement with them anyway. (Layish was in the valley near Beyt-Rehob.) They rebuilt the city and then moved into it.
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / result
וְאֵ֨ין מַצִּ֜יל כִּ֧י רְֽחוֹקָה הִ֣יא מִצִּיד֗וֹן וְדָבָ֤ר אֵין לָהֶם֙ עִם אָדָ֔ם
and,there_was_no deliverer that/for/because/then/when far she/it from,Sidon and,dealings not to/for=them with humankind
If it would be more natural in your language, you could reverse the order of these phrases, since the second phrase gives the reason for the result that the first phrase describes. Alternate translation: [Since the city was far from Sidon and it had no alliances with nearby cities or people groups, there was no one to rescue them]
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
וְדָבָ֤ר אֵין לָהֶם֙ עִם אָדָ֔ם
and,dealings not to/for=them with humankind
See how you translated the same expression in 18:7.
Note 3 topic: writing-background
וְהִ֕יא בָּעֵ֖מֶק אֲשֶׁ֣ר לְבֵית רְח֑וֹב
and=she in/on/at/with,valley which/who near,Beth- -rehob
The author is providing background information to help readers recognize where Laish was located. In your translation, introduce this information in a way that would be natural in your own language and culture.
18:28 Beth-rehob was perhaps an Aramean kingdom to the north (2 Sam 10:6). Nothing heroic, and no holy war, accrued to these Danite warriors who captured this defenseless city. Dan fulfilled Jacob’s mixed blessing by turning from the high calling of governing his people (Gen 49:16) to becoming “a snake beside the road, a poisonous viper along the path that bites the horse’s hooves so its rider is thrown off” (Gen 49:17).

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
