OET (OET-LV)Having_risen_up, I_will_be_going to the father of_me, and I_will_be_saying to_him:
father, I_sinned against the heaven and before you,

OET (OET-RV)I’m going to leave and go back to my father to tell him, “Father, I’ve disobeyed God and dishonoured you

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / quotesinquotes

ἀναστὰς, πορεύσομαι πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου, καὶ ἐρῶ αὐτῷ, Πάτερ, ἥμαρτον εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἐνώπιόν σου

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἀναστάς πορεύσομαι πρός τόν πατέρα μού καί ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Πάτερ ἥμαρτον εἰς τόν οὐρανόν καί ἐνώπιον σοῦ)

If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate this so that there is not a quotation within a quotation, and then another quotation within that one. Alternate translation: [He decided that he would leave that place and go to his father and tell him that he had sinned against God and directly against him]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom

ἀναστὰς

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἀναστάς πορεύσομαι πρός τόν πατέρα μού καί ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Πάτερ ἥμαρτον εἰς τόν οὐρανόν καί ἐνώπιον σοῦ)

This is an idiom. Alternate translation: [I will leave this place]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / euphemism

τὸν οὐρανὸν

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἀναστάς πορεύσομαι πρός τόν πατέρα μού καί ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Πάτερ ἥμαρτον εἰς τόν οὐρανόν καί ἐνώπιον σοῦ)

In order to honor the commandment not to misuse God’s name, Jewish people often avoided saying the word “God” and used the word heaven instead. Alternate translation: [God]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

ἐνώπιόν

(Some words not found in SR-GNT: Ἀναστάς πορεύσομαι πρός τόν πατέρα μού καί ἐρῶ αὐτῷ Πάτερ ἥμαρτον εἰς τόν οὐρανόν καί ἐνώπιον σοῦ)

The term before means “in the presence” of another person. In the speech he is planning, the younger son makes a distinction between the way he has sinned against heaven, by committing many sins, and before his father, by causing him personal shame and loss. Alternate translation: [directly against]

TSN Tyndale Study Notes:

15:1-32 Chapter 15 contains three related parables of things lost and found: a sheep (15:1-7), a coin (15:8-10), and a son (15:11-32). The loss of something loved causes deep sorrow, whereas finding it brings great joy. There is great rejoicing in heaven when lost sinners return to their heavenly Father.
