The author is using the term behold to focus his listeners’ attention on what he is about to say. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation. Alternate translation: [and look, the cloud] or [and they immediately noticed that the cloud]

כִסָּ֖ה⁠וּ הֶ⁠עָנָ֑ן

(kişşāh⁠ū he⁠ˊānān)

By the cloud covered it, the author means that the cloud that represented God’s presence descended upon the tent of meeting. You could indicate this explicitly in your translation if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [it was enveloped in the cloud] or [the cloud rested on it]

הֶ⁠עָנָ֑ן

(he⁠ˊānān)

The author assumes that readers will know this is the cloud that had been with the Israelites since their departure from Egypt and is described in [Numbers 9:15–23](../09/15.md). You could say that explicitly if that would be helpful to your readers. Alternate translation: [the cloud that had previously been over the tent]
