The psalmist is repeating forms of the verb chastise in order to intensify his expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [Yah has certainly chastised me]

Yah is a shortened form of the name “Yahweh,” the God of Israel. You could use the full name if that would be helpful to your readers as modeled in the UST.

Here the psalmist is speaking of death as if it were a place or person that Yahweh could give him to. He means that Yahweh has not allowed him to die. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [but he has kept me alive]
