The author assumes that readers will recognize that in this context, the term people refers to the men of Israel who were able to fight as soldiers. That is also the meaning in the frequent occurrences of this term in the rest of the chapter(except for in [13:4](../13/04.md)). Alternate translation: [the soldiers]
