TSNTyndale Study Notes:

23:24-27 In the census of 23:3, individuals were counted at age thirty, but the actual registration of the divisions included those twenty years old or older (cp. Num 1:3). The age of entry into Levitical service apparently varied over time according to need.

UTNuW Translation Notes:

(Occurrence 0) has given rest

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when he/it_had_said Dāvid given_rest YHWH god Yisrael to,people,his and,dwells in/on/at/with,Jerusalem until to,forever )

Here “rest” refers to peace with surrounding nations. See how you translated a similar phrase in 1 Chronicles 22:9.

(Occurrence 0) He makes his home in Jerusalem forever

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when he/it_had_said Dāvid given_rest YHWH god Yisrael to,people,his and,dwells in/on/at/with,Jerusalem until to,forever )

This could mean: (1) Yahweh will be present in Jerusalem forever or (2) Yahweh’s temple will be present in Jerusalem forever.
