Normally the OET discourages the reading of individual ‘verses’, but this view is only designed for doing comparisons of different translations. Click on any Bible version abbreviation down the left-hand side to see the verse in more of its context. The OET segments on this page are still very early looks into the unfinished texts of the Open English Translation of the Bible. Please double-check these texts in advance before using in public.

5:1-31 This song, a victory hymn usually credited to Deborah, presents a second, more poetic account of the entire battle with various details that supplement the prose account. It is one of the most ancient Hebrew poems. It blesses the Lord, those tribes who responded to the muster, and Jael. It curses those who remained at home, Sisera, and his mother’s entourage. It contrasts conditions before Barak’s victory, when the Lord’s curse was on the land, with the life of blessing in the wake of the warriors’ righteous acts. It ends with a prayer that the Lord’s enemies will perish like Sisera (5:31).
Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive
תְּבֹרַךְ֙ מִנָּשִׁ֔ים יָעֵ֕ל אֵ֖שֶׁת חֶ֣בֶר הַקֵּינִ֑י מִנָּשִׁ֥ים בָּאֹ֖הֶל תְּבֹרָֽךְ
blessed of,women Yāˊēl/(Jael) wife_of Ḩeⱱer the,Kenite of,women in/on/at/with,tent_dwellers blessed
If your language does not use this passive form, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: “May Yahweh bless Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, who lives in a tent, more than any other woman”
Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / idiom
תְּבֹרַךְ֙ מִנָּשִׁ֔ים & מִנָּשִׁ֥ים בָּאֹ֖הֶל תְּבֹרָֽךְ
blessed of,women & of,women in/on/at/with,tent_dwellers blessed
This is a common expression that means that Jael is the most blessed woman, that is, she is more blessed than any other woman. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: “is more blessed than any other woman, yes, she is the most blessed of all the women who live in a tent”
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / parallelism
תְּבֹרַךְ֙ מִנָּשִׁ֔ים & מִנָּשִׁ֥ים בָּאֹ֖הֶל תְּבֹרָֽךְ
blessed of,women & of,women in/on/at/with,tent_dwellers blessed
These two phrases are saying the same thing. The second phrase emphasizes the meaning of the first by being more specific. (It is not qualifying the first phrase by specifying that this statement about Jael actually applies only to women who live in tents.) You could include both phrases in your translation. However, if it would be clearer in your language, you could combine the phrases and express the emphasis in another way. Alternate translation: “who lives in a tent, is the most blessed of all women”
