Here Moses uses the phrase gave the nations an inheritance as if God were distributing property to his heirs, in order to describe how God assigned each nation its territory to live in. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [When the Most High assigned the nations their territories] or [When the Most High gave each nation its place to live]

(Some words not found in UHB: when,gave_inheritances_to the_most_high nations when,separated,he sons_of humankind fixed boundaries_of peoples to,the_number_of sons_of Yisrael )
Moses is using the term sons of man to mean all of humanity. If it would be helpful in your language, you could state the meaning plainly. Alternate translation: [all of people in the world]

(Some words not found in UHB: when,gave_inheritances_to the_most_high nations when,separated,he sons_of humankind fixed boundaries_of peoples to,the_number_of sons_of Yisrael )
Most ancient manuscripts read “sons of Israel.” The ULT follows that reading. One ancient manuscript reads “sons of God” which refers to heavenly beings. If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to use the reading of the ULT. Alternate translation: [the sons of God] or [the angels of God]

Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
