OET (OET-LV) And someone said to_him:
Behold, the mother of_you and the brothers of_you have_stood outside seeking to_speak to_you.
OET (OET-RV) Someone told him, “Look, your mother and your siblings are outside, waiting to speak with you.”
In this section, Jesus showed that all who obey God are members of his/Jesus’ spiritual family.

There are parallel passages for this section in Mark 3:31–35 and Luke 8:19–21.

Some Greek manuscripts include 12:47. Most English versions follow these manuscripts. (BSB, NIV, GNT, NRSV, NET, KJV, NASB, CEV, GW, NLT, REB, NCV, JBP)
Some Greek manuscripts do not include 12:47. A few English versions follow these manuscripts. (ESV, RSV, NJB)
It is recommended that you follow option (1). Most English versions follow this option. Also, option (1) helps connect 12:46 and 12:48.
The person who told Jesus the news certainly talked to Jesus with respect. In some languages, it may be necessary to make this respect explicit. For example:
Teacher, your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.
Excuse me, your mother and your younger brothers are standing outside the house. They want to speak with you.
In some languages, it may be natural to translate this verse as indirect speech. For example:
Someone told Jesus that his mother and younger brothers were standing outside the house and wanted to talk with him.

Some ancient manuscripts do not include this verse. However, many ancient manuscripts do include this verse. If a translation of the Bible exists in your region, you may wish to use the reading that it uses. If a translation of the Bible does not exist in your region, you may wish to include the verse, as the ULT does.

The word Behold is intended to draw the attention of Jesus and to ask him to listen carefully. If it would be helpful in your language, you could express Behold with a word or phrase that asks someone to listen or pay attention. Alternate translation: [Listen] or [Jesus]
