uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

כִּסְאֲךָ֣

(Some words not found in UHB: arrows_of,your sharp peoples under, you fall in,the_heart_of enemies_of of,the_king )

Here the king’s throne represents his reign. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [Your reign]

Note 2 topic: writing-politeness

אֱ֭לֹהִים

(Some words not found in UHB: arrows_of,your sharp peoples under, you fall in,the_heart_of enemies_of of,the_king )

The Hebrew term that is translated as “God” in most contexts can sometimes be used to refer respectfully to judges. There are probable examples of this in [Exodus 21:6](../exo/21/06.md), [Exodus 22:9](../exo/22/09.md), [Exodus 22:28](../exo/22/28.md), and [Psalm 82:1](../082/001.md). Since the rest of this verse speaks of the king enforcing justice, this seems to be another instance of that usage. (The psalmist clarifies in the next verse that the king is subject to God himself, who is his God.) To avoid the impression that the psalmist is addressing the king as if he were God or a god, it may be helpful to use a comparable respectful form of address in your language. (See the further discussion of this in the introduction to this psalm.) Alternate translation: [O royal judge]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy

שֵׁ֥בֶט מִ֝ישֹׁ֗ר שֵׁ֣בֶט מַלְכוּתֶֽךָ

(Some words not found in UHB: arrows_of,your sharp peoples under, you fall in,the_heart_of enemies_of of,the_king )

Here the king’s scepter represents his rule. If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [You rule your kingdom with justice]
