OET (OET-LV)If/because certainly_(die) we_will_die and_we_like_(the)_waters which_are_spilled towards_land which not they_will_be_gathered and_not god he_takes_away life and_he_plans plans to_not he_will_be_throw_out from_him/it a_banished_one.

OET (OET-RV)It’s certain that we’ll all die. Water that’s spilt on the ground can’t be gathered together again but God’s not like that. Rather than taking away life, he devises plans so that the one who was banished can be gathered back in.

uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: figures-of-speech / reduplication

כִּי־מ֣וֹת נָמ֔וּת

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The woman is repeating forms of the verb die in order to intensify her expression of the idea that it conveys. If your language can repeat words for intensification, it would be appropriate to do that here in your translation. If not, your language may have another way of expressing the intensification. Alternate translation: [For we will certainly die]

Note 2 topic: figures-of-speech / ellipsis

וְכַמַּ֨יִם֙ הַנִּגָּרִ֣ים אַ֔רְצָה אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֣א יֵאָסֵ֑פוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The woman is leaving out some of the words that in many languages a sentence would need in order to be complete. You can supply these words from the context if that would be clearer in your language. Alternate translation: [and we will die like water spilled on the ground that is not gathered]

Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

וְכַמַּ֨יִם֙ הַנִּגָּרִ֣ים אַ֔רְצָה אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֣א יֵאָסֵ֑פוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The expressions water spilled and is not gathered are passive verbal forms. If your language would not use those forms, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [and we will die like water that someone has spilled on the ground that no one can gather up]

Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / simile

וְכַמַּ֨יִם֙ הַנִּגָּרִ֣ים אַ֔רְצָה אֲשֶׁ֖ר לֹ֣א יֵאָסֵ֑פוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The point of this comparison is that just as water spilled on the ground cannot be gathered up again, so a person who dies cannot be brought back to life. If it would be helpful in your language, you could make this point explicitly. Alternate translation: [and after that we cannot be brought back to life]

Note 5 topic: writing-poetry

וְחָשַׁב֙ מַֽחֲשָׁב֔וֹת

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The woman is using a construction in which a verb and its object come from the same root. You may be able to use the same construction in your language to express the meaning here. Alternatively, your language may have another way of saying this. Alternate translation: [but he makes merciful arrangements]

Note 6 topic: figures-of-speech / activepassive

לְבִלְתִּ֛י יִדַּ֥ח מִמֶּ֖נּוּ נִדָּֽח

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

The expressions the banished and will not be banished are passive verbal forms. If your language would not use those forms, you could express the idea in active form or in another way that is natural in your language. Alternate translation: [so that people whom he has banished will not remain in banishment]

Note 7 topic: figures-of-speech / metaphor

לְבִלְתִּ֛י יִדַּ֥ח מִמֶּ֖נּוּ נִדָּֽח

(Some words not found in UHB: that/for/because/then/when to_die we_must_die and,[we,like_(the)_waters [which,are]_spilled towards=land which/who not gathered_up and=not take_away ʼElohīm creature and,he_plans plans to=not throw_out from=him/it banished )

Here, the woman is speaking as if God had actually banished some people. She is referring to the way God works to restore people who have alienated themselves from him through sin and rebellion. Your language may have a comparable expression that you can use in your translation. Alternate translation: [to bring people back who have gone away from him]
