uW Translation Notes:

Note 1 topic: writing-newevent

וַ֠תֹּאמֶר הָאִשָּׁ֤ה הַתְּקֹעִית֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

(Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king and,she_fell on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,her towards=land and,she_bowed_down and=she/it_said save, O,king )

The author is using a summary statement to introduce a new part of this story, which takes place in [verses 4–20](../14/04.md). Your language may have its own way of offering an introductory summary at the beginning of a new part of a story. Alternate translation: [So the Tekoite woman went to speak to the king]

Note 2 topic: translate-symaction

וַתִּפֹּ֧ל עַל־אַפֶּ֛יהָ אַ֖רְצָה וַתִּשְׁתָּ֑חוּ

(Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king and,she_fell on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,her towards=land and,she_bowed_down and=she/it_said save, O,king )

Be sure that it is clear in your translation that the woman did not fall down accidentally. She knelt down in front of David, pressing her face to the ground as a gesture to honor him. She then prostrated herself or stretched out flat on the ground to show David great honor. If it would be helpful to your readers, you could explain the significance of this action in the text or in a footnote. Alternate translation: [and she knelt on the ground in front of David, stretching herself out flat, to honor him greatly]

Note 3 topic: writing-politeness

הוֹשִׁ֥עָה הַמֶּֽלֶךְ

(Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king and,she_fell on/upon/above/on_account_of//he/it_went_in face_of,her towards=land and,she_bowed_down and=she/it_said save, O,king )

The woman is referring to King David by a respectful title, and she is using the customary expression of this culture to ask him to use his royal power to help her. Use a comparable title and expression from your language. Alternate translation: [Help me, Your Majesty]
