OET (OET-LV) And_she/it_said the_woman (the)_Təqōˊī to the_king be_on_me my_master the_king the_iniquity and_on the_house_of my_father_of_my and_the_king and_throne_of_his be_innocent.
OET (OET-RV) But the Tekoan woman continued, “The blame,[fn] my master the king, will be on me and my extended family, but the king and his throne will be innocent.”
14:9 Presumably for not putting the murderer to death.
Note 1 topic: grammar-connect-condition-hypothetical
עָלַ֞י אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ הֶעָוֺ֖ן וְעַל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑י
[be]_on,me my=master (Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king [be]_on,me my=master the=king the,iniquity and,on house_of my_father_of,my and,the,king and,throne_of,his guiltless )
The woman is actually describing a possible condition. She is saying that if there is any wrong in this situation, she and her family, not David, will be guilty and bear the responsibility. Express this possible condition in a way that would be natural in your language. Alternate translation: [If there is any iniquity, my lord the king, then let it be on me and on the house of my father]
Note 2 topic: translate-kinship
בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑י
(Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king [be]_on,me my=master the=king the,iniquity and,on house_of my_father_of,my and,the,king and,throne_of,his guiltless )
See how you translated the similar expression in [3:29](../03/29.md). Alternate translation: [my extended family]
Note 3 topic: figures-of-speech / 123person
וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ וְכִסְא֖וֹ נָקִֽי
(Some words not found in UHB: and=she/it_said the=woman (the),Tekoite to/towards the=king [be]_on,me my=master the=king the,iniquity and,on house_of my_father_of,my and,the,king and,throne_of,his guiltless )
Even though the woman is addressing the king directly, she is speaking of him in the third person as the king and his throne to show respect. If it would be helpful in your language, you could translate this in a respectful form in the second person, here and in similar instances throughout the chapter. Alternate translation: [and may you, O king, and your throne]
Note 4 topic: figures-of-speech / metonymy
וְכִסְא֖וֹ
and,throne_of,his
Here, throne represents “kingdom.” If it would be helpful in your language, you could use an equivalent expression or plain language. Alternate translation: [and his kingdom]
Note: The OET-RV is still only a first draft, and so far only a few words have been (mostly automatically) matched to the Hebrew or Greek words that they’re translated from.
